BJJ & Grappling for Adults

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is currently a very popular and rapidly growing combat grappling sport. Unlike other combat sports, it does not use punches and kicks to neutralize an opponent, but joint locks and chokes. There are two variants – with a kimono (Gi) and without a kimono (no-Gi), also known as grappling. The techniques in both disciplines are very similar. The fight starts standing, where, using wrestling techniques (takedowns, throws, off-balancing), both opponents go to the ground, where they attempt submission techniques (chokes, joint locks).

Main features of BJJ:

  • Focus on technique: BJJ emphasizes technique and skill, which allows a weaker or smaller individual to defeat a stronger opponent.
  • Self-defense: BJJ is an effective method of self-defense that strongly focuses on controlling and neutralizing an attacker.
  • Community aspect: BJJ training fosters a spirit of cooperation, respect, and mutual support among practitioners.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is popular not only as a competitive sport, but also as a form of personal development and fitness. Today it enjoys great interest all around the world.
